Third email for this position from the same recruiting company.
Perhaps I’ll see if I can get a salary range.

I really can’t stand positions that don’t advertise salary ranges. In many fields (including mine) there are a lot of generic job titles that really could ring in at any salary point.
I had an interview with a smaller firm in my field recently and I feel that they were looking for something not as advanced as what I already do. I gave them my salary demand and never heard back...ever.

Complete agreement with the lack of salary range.
I have to admit to a tiny bit of enjoyment at the occasional:
“So, what level of compensation are you looking for?”
“I would have to start at $X/year.”
Crickets.... Crickets... “Hello?”
“Our client is offering... a bit below that.”

Yeah, I mean it comes up during an interview and if we’re like $30K apart for example, this whole thing has been a complete waste of my time and the HR person’s time.

I work in staffing. There’s some stuff in the grammar of this email that looks like an offshore recruiter. You might want to try to track down what other agencies might be working on this particular opening.

At least here in the US, advertising a salary range is an exception, not the norm.

I’d say it is industry dependant, in the past I’d agree, but it seems to be changing these days.

Im working on a cybersecurity degree and I for some reason never considered working cyber security for the automotive industry. Hmmmm.

The parts I blacked out absolutely show that it’s an offshore recruiter.

So, we form an international CyberSec consultancy firm for the automotive industry (or another one)...

Usually I only see it when jobs are government or government-adjacent like public universities. Or if there’s a firm cap on salary and the employer wants to put that card on the table right away.

I was approached recently by a large semiconductor company, I pointed out they were wasting their time (they’re famous for practicing ageism) since I’m over 50. Their response was they didn’t think I would be a “good fit”.. assholes

I found the original job posting, or at least the same job posting from an offshore recruiting company. If I were to guess, this *might* be at Aptiv, as they have a location in the city where the job is posted, and similar job postings, except those are all in Germany.
I’d be hesitant to work through a staffing company such as this one but you could always have a quick informational call with them. You should find out who the end customer company where you’d actually be working is, and what this recruiting company’s relationship is to them, i.e whether they’d be staffing you directly to the customer, or if there’s some kind of subcontracting arrangement.
But honestly the fact that I found one and only one posting with no duplicates from similar agencies tells me this is not likely to be a real job opening.

Once I received a third email, I figured it was worth doing a bit of background. I appreciate you looking as well. I’m pretty comfortable where I am, but I figured a call to see what they say won’t hurt. From the junk number of course.
